Best Portable Mirrorless Digital Cameras – Compact System Cameras with style and function
When you want the quality of Digital SLRs but not one to carry a bulky camera round, mirrorless digital cameras are your answer.
Sometimes known as Compact System Cameras, mirrorless digital cameras do not have glass prisms in them, the light simply comes through the lenses and fall straight on the super sized sensor. To frame your shots, instead of using a viewfinder, you get a large 3-inch screen that sometimes double as touch screen to control the settings. Some manufacturer offers Electronic live view finder using a built-in small screen behind an eye-piece placed in the conventional top left corner great for shooting in broad day light.
Without the prism, this reduces the size of the camera body tremendously. While it is inevitable that some lenses are bigger than others given the zoom range, some manufacturer manages this better than others with built-in lens that disappears into the body or with a fixed focal length lens. Others, take a different approach with removable lenses, allowing you to take apart the cameras for easy storage.
There is also the question of the bulge on the body of the camera. For seriously compact camera body, bulge-less design is the way to go. But if you prefer more stability, especially when shooting with a big lens then the bulge will help steady your grip on the camera.
