The Robomow Range

When it comes to robotic lawnmowers, you want to be sure that you made the right choice and picked the right one for your garden. It is after all a big investment and you do not want to make the mistake of picking one that is too small and finding that you needed an upgrade or too big and overspending.

From one of the biggest names in robotic lawn mowers, Robomow comes the RC-series for small to large lawns and the RS-series for large to massive lawns. The differences between the two are as follows:

Common features are the rain sensor that lets the Robomow return to its base station in rainy weather and start again when conditions are better. It can work on areas with slopes of up to 36%. You can use the Pin code function to lock the Robomow to prevent others from operating it. Robomow can also work on different zones independently for gardens with connecting pathways or separating hedges with a strip of grass in between. The ultra wide blades at 28cm or 56cm where others start from 17cm allows the Robomow to complete the lawn faster. It’s unique Edge mode and cut-beyond-the-wheel base gives a signature Robomow finish. Grass clippings are left on the lawn to decompose and to turn into food for the grass. Both RC and RS series support the Robomow App (iOS | Android) that gives you full control using your smartphone.

Our favourite top of the range model from the RS series has Edge Mode that lets you cut right up to the edge leaving no fringes of uncut grass, unsightly long blades of grass that got missed. The dual blade arrangement is extra solid and has a wide 56cm cutting width. On a full charge can work for up to 100 minutes. This is enough for even the medium to large lawns. When the battery is low, it takes up to 110 minutes charging time to fully recover with the included Robohome docking charger. The RS635 has a 3600 m² recommended lawn size and can take on lawns up to 5000 m².

Entry Level Model

The entry level RM series has been replaced with RX series. Models currently available are the RX20U and RX12U both of which are small lawn mowers with 18cm cutting width suitable for small lawns no more than 300m2. These compact robot mower has a simple single button operation with the higher RX20 models controllable via Robomow mobile app.

Robomow RX29U – SMART, APP SUPPORT

This is a smart robot mower with scheduling function and remote app control and two zones support. The later refers to the robot mower having the capability of moving to a different zone in the garden connected via a pathway or strip of grass and returning when done.

Robomow RX12U

The Robomow RX12U is a compact and low cost robot lawn mower to keep small lawns looking tidy and pristine. Once set up, it requires little attention and effort beyond turning it on. It has enough juice to cover up to a maximum of 250 square meters and can climb slopes of up to 8 degrees. When it is done, it will return itself to the charging base. With its 18cm blade, it can reach to the edge chopping the grass as it goes leaving it to mulch so there is no bin to empty. As it is an entry model, there are no fancy features like voice control, app or scheduling. Keep it within the lawn and not over your flower bed with boundary wire. Like some robot vacuum, it will just change direction when it bumps into something. Great as a first robot mower with little to go wrong.
